I'm finally back in Singapore after six days in Hong Kong for a business trip. I missed Joshie baby a lot, and it made me so SO so happy to hear him say that six days apart made him realised that he needed me so much.
Then he continued to explain that without me around, he woke up late almost every morning, and dozed off with the TV and the lights on every night. Gah.
Why am I surprised. Joshie was a practical sort of guy who bought me a hairdryer as a gift cos it was practical and I would have use for it everyday. So his kind of love profusion was rather, erm, special.
But I forgave him cos we danced several rounds of the horizontal mambo, and he hugged and kissed me so much yesterday and today before reporting for night duty this evening. He even declared that we shall not wait till next April to get hitch. He wants me to be his wife the sooner the better.
I love this strange fella so much.
Heck, despite being back in Singapore, I still had to sleep alone tonight cos Joshie baby had to do the night shift. I almost cried as I saw him to the door. I could only pacify myself by wearing his pajamas to bed tonight so I could still smell him as I sleep.
Corporate Fun:
One thing I love about my job is that I get to travel and attend fun social functions. I got to visit Hong Kong Disneyland for FREE!!! However I did not get to take any of the rides since it was more of a dinner event and we had our own dinner gathering with the Hong Kong sales team at Causeway Bay. That's fine, cos Disneyland isn't really my cup of tea. I guess Disneyland and its rides would have appealed to me if I were younger.

I did find time to buy a set of Piglet ear-studs, a giant Mickey Mouse glove and sneak on Piglet's ears for a picture with the girls! Heh heh.
I think the Piglet's ears would look great on me, especially if I wore nothing else. I would just need to complete the look by striking a pose on the dining table just as Joshie darling was coming through the door.
Yes! I could wear the ears while Joshie have the leafy army helmet on as we bang-bang! That will be such fun!
My company had also partnered a leading hotel for a dinner party for the trade delegates on our first business night. We had been preparing for it for several months. I did the promotion ads and designs, while the hotel managed the party theme and logistics.
It was a fantastic party and the theme was quite Mafia-styled. So all the men had hats and sunglasses on, while the women wrapped rainbow-coloured feather boas round their necks. Very amusing. All the men ended up looking like each other and I kept smiling at men I thought I knew, but actually did not. Gah. These old buggers must be thinking that I was trying to pick 'em up.

The hotel was such a wonderful host! They opened up their entire lobby area for the event and featured all sorts of food! They had a gigantic roll of pork sausage that was as long as both arms stretched out on my sides - fingertip to fingertip! They also had a whole roast lamb!
A Paradise for Shopping and Eating!
For convenient commuting to the exhibition site every morning, I stayed at Novotel Citygate at Tung Chung. Alas, Tung Chung is over an hour's train ride to Causeway Bay, where the shopping and eating paradise is.

Fortunately, I did manage to squeeze in some fun on the first and last day. I think I like Hong Kong very much for its glorious food, vibrant night life and polite, smiling service staff. Singapore pales in comparison in these areas.
And it is so fun to be able to speak Cantonese all day! In Hong Kong everyone speaks Cantonese... I love! I don't have to worry that some sales staff would try to toss some Hokkien at me and I would not be able to reply since I know nuts about that dialect. I'm sick and tired of people's teasing as they wonder how can a Singaporean not know Hokkien. Gah, fluent Hokkien can't get you a job to save your life in Singapore.
The clothes, shoes and accessories sold in the shops were very pretty but more expensive than in Singapore. I did not bother to go the street markets at Temple Street or Mong Kok since I did not fancy cheap but poor-quality items. Hence I ploughed through Causeway Bay for my shopping.

Despite being cautious of the speed at which I shop myself to bankruptcy, I still ended up with a pair of silver pointy heels (SGD $75), a funky pair of BIG sunglasses which I really don't need (SGD $65), a pair of must-have calf-length brown boots (SGD $250), a charming Hello Kitty handphone trinket with a ball of pink fur and a chain of crystals that is terribly girly (SGD $40) and some sensible purchases such as a black and silver shawl and a couple of tops from Esprit.
It was on food that I had no qualms about spending.
The simplest fare - wan ton (prawn dumpling) noodles - taste absolutely heavenly in Hong Kong! The wan tons were filled with the freshest, sweetest prawns, the noodles were springy and the soup was delectable!
And to think that I thought Crystal Jade (in Singapore) serves the best century egg porridge with lean meat. Gah, I was so wrong. A small eatery at Lee Theatre Building at Causeway Bay served even better century egg porridge with lean meat! *slurp*

Hong Kong is also famous for its roast goose. There is only one place to eat roast goose in Hong Kong. Almost every one knows Yong Kee - it is serves the BEST roast goose in Hong Kong. Standing four storeys high, this restaurant even had its own doorman! How extravagant!
And truly, their roast goose was succulent and the skin was impossibly cripsy yet drip-drip-dripping with juice! After the first glorious bite, I almost fall off my chair, moan in ecstasy and wet my g-string.

Yong Kee is just next to Lan Kwai Fong. No prize for guessing what we did after dinner. Heh Heh.

We settled down for drinks at a latino bar called La Bodega. We got a great table along the sidewalk so the music wasn't too loud and we could people-watch. Oh yes, and we took a couple of photos too.

A little while later, we spotted one of the delegates from the trade show. He had lost his friends among the crowd so we invited him to join us for drinks instead. Oh good. A gwai lo (Cantonese for caucasian). My megawatt smile and small talk got us two rounds of booze on his tab. Heh heh. I learn quick.
But since he's really is a nice guy who doesn't get sleazy and touchy with us, we did not take full advantage of him and paid for some of our own poisons... and some of his too.
We left Lan Kwai Fong early at around 2 plus in the morning. Sheesh! It was half past 3am by the time we reach the hotel and I fell asleep right after my bath.
I shall return to Hong Kong soon with Joshie baby for a proper holiday. This time, I'll make sure we will get to see the sights and eat a whole lot more!
We can worry about the Jupiter-sized ass later.
P/S: This same trade show will be held in Bali next year! My fave R&R place!
4 blistering yaks:
Your sunshades are so cool! How does your boots and silver shoes look like?? Shopping must be so fun in HK!
Ahh yes... the famous Yong Kee's siew ngor (roast goose). I can almost taste it now that you have rekindled my memory.
