The Unhappy Delivery Woman

KFC called me to do a customer satisfaction survey after I paid for a delivery to my office for lunch.

The caller asked me, "Did the delivery staff smile and greet you?"

I distinctly remembered the delivery woman's scrowl as she placed my purchase on the reception counter and passed me the bill without even making eye contact.

So I replied, "No, she didn't smile. In fact, she looked quite unhappy."

There was a silence on the other end for a few seconds. Then the caller said, "Alamak. But why didn't she smile?"

Gee, I don't know why your delivery staff did not smile. But I will remember to ask her the next time I see her.

I suspect my answer stumped him because he repeated "alamak" a couple of times before he asked if I would buy KFC again and then said goodbye.

Maybe his script did not prepare him for a "No, she did not smile."



Poor dude.
