The Bangkok Routine

I had no intentions of writing a post about the trip to Bangkok since I've been there so many times. It is almost like my second home and office.

But the night is long and I'm bored shit. Joshua is ill, so karma sutra practise is out of the question. There's nothing stimulating on TV cos I am sure the government has made a pact with the TV station to broadcast only the most boring programmes to force its citizens to screw and reproduce instead.

Plus, I did take quite a bit of photos in Bangkok... so what the heck. I might at well do something until I'm sleepy and ready for bed.

So what did I do in Bangkok apart from serious news hunting at the trade show?

I indulged in the BEST EVER fruit smoothie my tongue has ever tasted at iBerry, a pretty little smoothie bar in new CentralWorld mall.

Mine (cup on right) was a blend of strawberries, banana and fresh cream. Ahh, sweet and rich. Love it! Sandee's darker pink concoction consisted of strawberries and raspberries.

I took a picture with a plasticky stranger who appears to be lost in his day dreams.

I attempted to buy a quarter of Bangkok home.

I satisfied my cravings for Tom Kha Gai and Mango with Sticky Rice.

And for some strange reason, the bunch of us had cravings for shabu shabu. So I had shabu shabu for dinner twice during my four-day stay in the Land of Smiles.

The first was at Mo-Mo Paradise in CentralWorld (the dang mall has EVERYTHING!), where we had an all-you-can-eat buffet for a mere S$15. The beef and pork slices were surprisingly fresh for such a cheap eatery.

The second was at a pricier restaurant - also in CentralWorld - and we spent only approximately S$80 on loads of premium beef!

Ahh, of course we went partying. We boogied at Bed Supperclub and got cheated into paying S$150 for small bottle of Moet. We lounged at the newly hip Long Table. But the one place we went back almost every night was the plush Red Sky bar located on the 55th floor of the new Centara Grand Hotel. Sky Bar commanded a splendid night view of Bangkok's city centre.

I also had fun... and loads of Prosecco... at the Grand Millennium Sukhumvit's lounge, where I led a colleague astray by rekindling his romance with cigars.

Seeing how much I appreciate good cigars, my good friend, Mr M, so kindly shared a splendid Cuban from his prized personal stash. When he said he had a cigar for me, I asked, "Will that be the cigar in your pocket, or the one in your pants?" Mr M knew it was said in all good nature and we shared a hearty laugh.

I also caught up with a friend during the awards gala dinner and snapped a photo for memories.

After the gala dinner, we partied some more at Red Sky and around 2am, we retreated to Kat's room for supper and.. yes, more wine.

When the hotel staff came to deliver our mum-mums, we all sang him a birthday song, although it was not his birthday. He tried to tell us it wasn't his birthday, but we sang even louder and pretended not to hear him. Then Marisa demanded that he gave each of us girls a kiss since he was the birthday star.

Poor dude. He was so embarrassed.

Of course we took (more) photos. Dang... And there I was, smiling innocently for the camera, blissfully unaware of what the heck Marisa was doing with her tongue.

Ahh, we had a crazy time in Bangkok, but life was always this way when we are overseas.
