On Saturday afternoon, he told me he had to drive his friend into Batu Pahat to collect his car, which was wrecked several weeks ago in an accident in Malaysia. I said I would go with him since the weekend was the only time I could spend time with him. This is despite me being down with flu and a hacking cough.

So I loaded up on ibuprofen, fexofenadine and antibiotics to keep the ills at bay while I journeyed into Malaysia with the guys.
By the time we dropped off Josh's friend, it was past 6pm, and I was starting to get a massive headache from the car ride. Josh was also exhausted and hungry.
So we decided there and then to head to our favourite Malaysian city, Malacca, to stay for the night, which will give us time to visit our favourite restaurants for our favourite eats.

I've never gone somewhere without prior hotel booking. It was a crazy risk we took, especially since Malacca is often crazy packed over the weekends.
We called at a couple of trusty hotels and all were full. I was getting desperate. It was past 8pm already, and I was starting to feel the fever creeping back into my system. I don't feel well enough to survive the journey back to Singapore, and Josh was in no shape to drive for another three more hours in the night.
So imagine my immense relief when I found a room at the Equitorial. Nevermind that the only room left was a Club Room. Of course, there are suites available, but I would not be able to afford a suite!
I was so happy to have found a place to spend the night that the feelings of weakness ebbed away, and I hopped my way to the room.

No more will I go overseas without first booking a place to stay!
We grabbed the room and retreated to rest our shells before heading out again to get dinner. We went to the Portugese Village for cheap seafood. There, we saw horseshoe crabs being served up to a huge Chinese family. Have they not heard the the eggs of the horseshoe crabs are poisonous?!

After dinner, we returned to our room and I loaded up again on pills. I slept like a corpse immediately. The next thing I knew, it was 8.30am the next day (today).
Thank goodness I felt a lot better this morning. So we got breakie (although I'm not a breakkie person) at the Club Lounge - might as well use the bloody facilities since I've to pay for it!

After that, we hit the malls in search of Akemi beddings. That's a pretty decent brand that doesn't break your bank like Sheriden or Aussino. It is a pity that Singapore doesn't carry much of Akemi's collection. We ended up buying quite a bit, which made me over S$400 poorer.
I blame the medication for lowering my defenses.
While we were at the mall, look what I found! A garden of carrots! All my friends! Heheh.

We checked out at 2pm and went to Jonkers Walk. What's a trip to Malacca without making a stop in Jonkers Walk!

Of course, what we really had in mind was Jonkers 88's laksa and cendol. Nevermind that laksa's spiciness will scorch my throat farther. Nevermind that cendol's chill will tighten my chest and worsen my cough.

Alas, Jonkers 88 was packed worse than a can of sardines. So we settled rather unwillingly for lunch at a Peranakan eatery called Nancy's Kitchen.

Nothing fancy. We just needed to fill our tummies.
Not satisfied with our lunch, we returned to Jonkers 88 for dessert. It was still packed at 3.30pm! We refused to leave Malacca without our Jonkers 88 cendol fix. So we bought ourselves a bowl each, walked to the garden next door, found a bench, sat there and dug in.

And we were reminded again that life's little happiness comes at RM2!
By the way, these photos were either taken with a lomography app on iPhone or with my Nikon baby and then processed through Photoshop to simulate lomo effects. Nice or not? :D
