Some kind of work trip

I went to New Delhi in September to cover a trade show, and I noticed a couple of similarities this current work trip to Manado has with that.

I was sick when I departed Singapore for New Delhi, and got sicker over the next few days there. I was sick too, when I departed Singapore for Manado, and have been getting worse every day. Today, my voice is completely gone and I'd cough like mad whenever I try to eat. Perfect weight-loss programme!

New Delhi rained almost every day. So has Manado the past two days.

The exhibition hall in New Delhi was in an awful state. It was dusty, the roof and overhanging air-con ducts was leaking, the toilets were hardly international standards. The exhibition hall in Manado is just as bad. It is a rush-rush construction project and half the exterior of the hall is still incomplete. The press room, which was JUST completed, has a strong chemical stench that drew tears to some of my colleagues' eyes. The interior is dusty too, and the toilets filthy. The electricity flow is inconsistent and there's no Internet connection. How to work like that, I ask you?!

I hope the parallels end there. The last thing I want is to experience another earthquake - yes, Manado is prone to that, as one just hit two days before I came - and a terror bombing that takes place to close for comfort.

Good night for now. I need to go sleep and prepare my soul for more surprises tomorrow. :(
